President Al-Bashir Affirms Sudan Keenness to Enhance Human Rights

President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, has affirmed Sudan keenness to enhance the situation of human rights in Sudan on ground that the respect of human rights is an ethic of the people of Sudan.
During his meeting at the Republican Palace Monday with Sudan Permanent Envoy to Geneva, Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail, President Al-Bashir was informed on outcome of the 39th session of the Council of Human Rights which was held in Geneva last month, appreciating the efforts of Sudan delegation at this session.
In a press statement, Ambassador Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail said that the duty of the Diplomatic missions abroad have the task of reflecting the positives of what is happening at home and explaining the reasons for the obstacles that prevent some successes, besides working with the international community to remove some obstacles and help Sudan overcome all obstacles.
He said that the Geneva station is considered one of the most important diplomatic stations as it holds a number of files related to Sudan, especially the human rights and international trade file that we are working to address for Sudan’s entry into the WTO in the coming period, as well as the World Health file and the gum Arabic file.
He pointed out that Sudan has succeeded in taking the decision from the African Group and UNCTAD for Sudan hosting to the Gum Arabic Conference, in coordination with the African Union and UNCTAD in next February which will be at the level of ministers of trade with the broad participation of international and regional organizations, explaining that this conference will organize the process of arranging, organizing and producing gum Arabic, especially that Sudan is producing 70% of world’s gum Arabic.
Dr. Ismail said that the international community has celebrated in Geneva the removal of land-mines in the context of East Sudan peace agreement, referring to a suggestion of the international community that Sudan is to chair the International Conference on Land-Mines Clearance.
Meanwhile, the President of the Republic has awarded the Nelein Order (first class) to Ambassador Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail and the Medal of Accomplishment to the Ministry of Justice in recognition of their role and the efforts of Sudan mission in Geneva.
